Clement C. Gunderson

Clement Gunderson, 89, of Rockford, IL passed away on April 27, 2024.

Clement was born in Hayti, South Dakota to Gustav and Alvena (Meisner) Gunderson on July 23, 1934. His family moved to Janesville in 1944 and attended school there. He graduated from Janesville High School in 1952 and served in the United States Navy in Italy from 1954 to 1957. He moved to Rockford in 1957, married his wife Barbara Douglas on November 25, 1961 and had two children, David and Mark. He was a devoted father who valued family, loved gardening, and reading.

Clement is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Joyce Dix and Carol Gunderson, and brother Raymond Gunderson. His is survived by his wife Barbara of 62 years, his son David Gunderson of Rockford, his son Mark (Michelle) Gunderson and grandson James Gunderson of Harvard, IL, sister Elaine (Elmer) Peterson of Janesville, WI, LuAnn (Wayne) Tucker of Janesville, WI and other nieces and nephews.

A grave side service at Milton Lawns in Janesville, WI is planned for the family. The family would like to thank the staff of Alden Debes in Rockford for their care and assistance and to Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Rockford for assisting the family with the arrangements.
