Clark W. Carlyle, 79, of Rockford, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on January 16, 2011. Born July 5, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan the son of James and Alice (Kapaun) Carlyle. A graduate of Wayne State University in 1953. Clark married Delores McClinchey on October 3, 1953. Clark worked as a chemical engineer for Chrysler Corporation until his retirement in 1987. Clark enjoyed gardening, was a member of Macktown Men's Golf Association, enjoyed playing cards, and was an avid fan of Detroit sports teams, particularly when they were playing Chicago teams. Survived by his wife, Delores; sons, Jim Carlyle of Grand Rapids, MI, Ken (Jennie) Carlyle of Clearwater, FL; daughter, Lisa Graydon of Rockford; grandchildren, Trevor Carlyle of Knoxville, TN, Alyssa Carlyle of Waldorf, MD and Taylor Graydon of Rockford; his sister, Laurel (Al) Bronick of Carrollton, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center staff, OSF Hospice Care and a special thanks to Pastor Laura Barkley of Christ United Methodist church for her comforting words and prayers.Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road with Reverend Laura Barkley officiating. Visitation will also be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Funeral Home. Private burial at Scandinavian Cemetery.
