Clarice Ann Lewandowski

Clarice Ann Lewandowski, 91, passed away in Rockford, Illinois on November 1, 2022. Born in Ord, Nebraska on August 29, 1931, she was the daughter of Chester and Anna (Mogensen) Kirby. Clarice married the love of her life, Ernest Lewandowski on January 30, 1954 in Grand Island, Nebraska. She retired from Chrysler in Belvidere after 22 years. A long-time member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, she utilized her love for cooking by helping with church dinners, funerals, potlucks, etc. Clarice and Ernest enjoyed spending time together- fishing, bowling, making rosaries and creating memories throughout their 64-year marriage until Ernie’s death in 2018. Clarice enjoyed being physically active and could be found at the YMCA dancing the polka and line dancing into her late 80s. She will be remembered as a very happy and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all who knew her.

She is survived by those who loved her, including her children Marilyn (Claude) Horsman, Sharon (Rodney) Johnson, Pamela (Patrick) Barkdoll, James (Rachel) Lewandowski and Brenda (Jeff) Ramsby; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sister Mary Lou Hulinsky, brother-in-law Albin Bruha, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband, Ernie; granddaughter Anna Barkdoll; her sister Alice Bruha, brother, Louis (Reva) Kirby, and brother-in-law Stanley Hulinsky.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N. Rockton Avenue, Rockford, Illinois. A time to gather will take place the following day, Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Avenue, Rockford, Illinois.
