Clara "Mardel" Hamren

Clara “Mardel” Hamren, 88, passed away on July 6, 2022, in Rockford, Illinois. Born in Ligonier, Indiana on May 20, 1934, daughter to Donald Bennett and Grace Waterson. A 1952 graduate of Warsaw Community High School, She and her then Husband, Carl Loser, moved to Rockford in 1965. They had four children before deciding to part ways. She worked for over 12 years at Patterson Dental. She married Elmer “Al” Hamren and they shared 20 years of marriage before Al’s passing in 2000. Mardel enjoyed fishing as a child with her father in Indiana, and later in life enjoyed going to Minnesota and Canada to fish. She also enjoyed mushroom hunting in the local Rockford area for several years. When indoors, she could often be found doing crossword puzzles, playing pinochle or bridge.

She is survived by her children, Diane (Ron Priem) Simpson, Christopher (Cynthia) Loser, and Jennifer Yerk; her grandchildren Sara Simpson, Anne (Jory) Wasmund, Alyssa (Josh) Silver, Blake (Meghan) Losure, Kayla (Cory) Clem and Logan Yerk; great grandchildren Madison Fitzpatrick, Alaina Wasmund, Beckham Silver and Jackson Clem; great great grandson Clay Claffey. She is predeceased by her Husband Al; her daughter Kelly Loser; her parents and sister Elaine Everts.

Cremation rights have been accorded to Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois 61108. A Celebration of Life will take place on July 30, 2022, 1:00 pm- 4:00 pm at the American Legion Robert C.A. Carlson Post 1207; 1011 S. Alpine Road, Rockford, IL 61108.
