Clara Ellen Villani 1932 - 2017
Clara Ellen (Bongey) Villani of Rockford, IL, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Feb. 3rd after a long illness.

Clara was born on August 8, 1932, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, daughter of Leon and Anna (Zielinski) Bongey. She graduated from Wisconsin School for the Deaf in June, 1952.

Clara married James Villani on May 21, 1955. They relocated to Springfield, IL, after retirement. Her beloved husband, James, preceded her in death. Also preceding Clara in death were her brother, Leon Bongey, brother-in-law Johnny Manalli, daughter-in-law Roberta (Ritter) Villani and son-in-law Mark Hailman.

Surviving are her sister, Jenny (Bongey) Manalli, sister-in-law Janet Bongey, daughters, Roma Hailman of Rockford, IL, Ann (Andrea Simeone) Villani of Athens, IL, son Tony Villani of Rockford, IL, grandson Cody Villani, granddaughter Marissa Villani, both of Rockford, IL, two nieces and a nephew.

Clara was a devoted wife. She was a loving, patient and understanding mother to her three children and a sweet, caring grandmother. Her fun-loving ways and sense of humor made her the joy of family gatherings.

Clara loved crafting and often created beautiful gifts for friends and family. Other hobbies included playing card games and socializing with her many friends. She organized cruises for the Deaf community on several occasions.

Clara was very involved in Deaf clubs through her life and became Chairwoman of the Deaf Senior Citizens Organization in Springfield, IL.

Funeral Mass at 11am Friday February 10, 2017 in St Anthony Catholic Church with the Franciscan Friars Officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation from 10am until 11am Friday in the church. Express online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com
