Chuck A. Karcz, 49, of Rockford, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 12, 2016. He was born in Queens, NY on May 21, 1966; to parents Andrew Karcz and Grace (Lahey) Karcz. He married his loving wife, Dawn (Gillette) Karcz on February 3, 2006 in Hallendale, Florida. They have one daughter, Skylar, who was born on July 22, 2011. Chuck worked for many years in telecommunications and owned and operated Rycom Technologies, and was also certified through Bicsi as an RCDD. He enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races and was a huge #24, Jeff Gordon fan. Chuck loved camping in his fifth wheel with his family, 4 wheelers, bonfires, and basically anything involving the outdoors; especially keeping his yard looking good. He was also what some might call a pyrotechnic enthusiast; Chuck loved his fireworks. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, nephew, uncle, and friend, and his family and friends will love him always. The Karcz Family would like to acknowledge Chuck’s selfless donation to the Gift of Hope Foundation.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Dawn and daughter, Skylar; mother, Grace Karcz; father, Andrew (Phyllis) Karcz; “mom and pop”, Mike and Nancy Gillette Sr., siblings, Andy Karcz, Denise (Paul) Wehrum, Wayne (Heather) Karcz, Chris (Missy) Karcz, Michelle (Keith) Kremposky, Brian (Chrisi) Karcz; sisters in-law, Kelly (Dr. Areg) Mekerian, Boo (Emerson) De Oliveira; brother in-law, Michael Gillette Jr.; nieces and nephews, Jordyn, Kaylee, Cole, Stephanie, Jennifer, Kristin, Kyle, Matthew, Tiffany, Mason, Lindsey, Carter, Zach, Jessie, Emily, Ryan, Rylie, Olivia, Aidan, Damian, Adaline, Michael III, and Jade.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2016; at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Dr., Rockford, IL, 61109. Committal service will be private and on a later date. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2016; at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL, 61108; with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday at Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Karcz Family for a College Fund to be established for Chuck’s daughter Skylar.
