Christopher T. Vola

Christopher Thomas Vola, 54, of Rockford died suddenly May 22, 2018 after a challenging battle with ALS. Born in Rockford on July 4, 1963, the son of Thomas and Lillian (Zweep) Vola. He graduated from Guilford High School where he found his passion for automotive and metal working. He traveled the U.S. and Canada for the last 25 years as a sales engineer for the automated machine construction industry. Chris enjoyed wrenching on cars, especially his 1963 Chevy II, fishing the Kishwaukee at Camp Hillcrest, the Minnesota Vikings, downhill skiing and traveling to 46 of the U.S. States. Member and chaplain of Ellida Lodge #25. He is survived by his wife and soulmate of 34 years, Jennifer (Muno), sons: Mark (Allison) Vola of Raleigh, NC, Shaun Vola of Rockford, and Drew Vola of Chicago. Grandson, Aksel Vola, and newborn granddaughter, Adley Vola, of Raleigh. Mother, Lillian of Rockford, brother Dave Vola of Davis Junction, sister Beth (Patrick) Chadwick of Grand Rapids, MI. Mother-in-law, Barbara Muno. Special sisters-in-law and caregivers extraordinaire, Christine (Marty) Tillou and Julie (Tony) Hall. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by father, Thomas Vola. We would like to thank his employer, Vitronic Machine Vision, for the continued support and employment when ALS limited his abilities.

A visitation will be held Sunday, May 27, 2018 from 2pm until 5 pm and on Monday, May 28, 2018 from 11am until 11:30 am, followed by funeral service at 11:30 am at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 South Mulford Road, Rockford IL.
