Chiquita D. Gates

Chiquita D. Gates, 24, of Harvard, passed away January 1, 2020 in Woodstock as a result of an auto accident. Born June 10, 1995 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Lawrence & Gevena (Hall) Gates. She was raised by Patrick & Judy Hovis. Graduated from Woodstock High School, Class of 2013. She recently graduated from First Institute Vocational & Technical School in Crystal Lake.
Chiquita enjoyed basketball, singing, swimming, dancing, and spending time with her family most of all. Having an adventurous spirit Chiquita enjoyed traveling and trying new thing, especially new hair styles. She would light up a room with her smile and positive attitude everywhere she went.
She is survived by her parents, Lawrence and Gevena Gates; “adopted parents” Patrick and Judy Hovis; sisters, LaQueena Green, Latasha Gates, Latricia Gates, Jentiale Gates and Tanessha Gates; a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends. Predeceased by grandmother, Patricia Gates; great -grandmother Clara Gates; cousin, Drew Gates.
Services will be 12 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd, Rockford, IL 61108, with the Rev. Samuel Newton officiating. Visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory.
