Chase Alexander Shott

Chase Alexander Shott, 26, Roscoe, ended his journey on earth and began his eternal journey with God on October 18, 2017. Chase died hiking in the Beartooth Mountains by Mystic Lake, Montana due to sudden changes in weather conditions. He was born on his dad’s birthday, July 5, 1991. Chase graduated from 8th grade at Concordia Lutheran School and from Rockford Lutheran High School in 2010. He earned his Associate’s degree and personal training certification from Rock Valley College in 2012 and his BA in Kinesiology from NIU in 2015. Chase interned at NorthPointe Health and Wellness campus and was hired there. He continued his education and graduated from Bodycraft Wellness and Massage Center with a certification as a massage therapist on October 7, 2017. Chase had earned the rank of Eagle Scout and loved primitive camping and was known for his love of climbing. In the past 4 years he had participated in a Tough Mudder Challenge, 2 Hustle up the Hancock runs, and a Spartan Race. In recent years, he had traveled with family and friends to WI, OK, MI, MO, FL, SC, CO, AZ, and Ireland. He was now on his much anticipated solo journey to the Western US.
Survived by his loving mom, Kathy Shott, aunts, uncles, and cousins, Judy (Lonnie Baker) Bergstadt, Carol and Steve Peterson, Rick and Julie Stevens, Brittany and Burgundi, Jim and Jen Stevens, Tyler, Ryan, and Kya, Gary Walters, Haven and Holly, Diane and Mark Randol, Melissa, Kolten, Staci, Kaleb, Mallory, and Maleah, Pam and Mike Neville, Alisha and Adam. Also many friends who will forever miss his physical presence in their lives. Nina, Margie, Rose B., Kevin, Jaimie, Blake, Tony, Grandpa Tom and Sunshine, Zak, Christian, Tristan, Mike F., Joe and all the “usuals”, his NorthPointe and Massage family, and many others. A special shout of gratitude to Andrea Miller and Randi Paxton, our Montana “angels”. Chase will always live on in the heart of his adoring mom who admired his zest for life.
Predeceased by his loving dad, Larry Shott, his grandparents, Don and Bernie Bergstadt, and Cyrus and Marie Shott.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Roscoe United Methodist Church, 10816 Main St. Roscoe. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S.
