Charlotte J. Burton

December 13, 1944 — July 2, 2021

Charlotte Jo Bacino Burton, 76, of Rockford, peacefully passed away surrounded by her husband and Son on Friday, July 2, 2021.

Charlotte was born in Rockford, IL on December 13, 1944, daughter of Charles and Virginia (Miles) Bacino. Charlotte attended Catholic school at St Edward. Her favorite study in school was History, which she held a passion for all her life. Charlotte was very devoted to her faith attending weekly mass and celebrating Saint Joseph and Saint Christopher. She married Bruce Burton at St. Edward Catholic Church of Rockford in August of 1969. As her lifelong friend, having lived across the street from one another since children, Bruce never left Charlotte’s side. Charlotte cherished her family, especially her son and grandchildren, who never missed Sunday dinner at Nana's. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and loved nature. Charlotte had the best laugh and loved to tell her grandchildren funny stories. Her favorite quote was, "Laughter is the best medicine."

A few words from Charlotte's husband and son in memory of her loving soul. Mom's final wish is that we raise children who love the unloved things. Children who sense the rose needs the thorn. Who run into rain swept days and Mom's arms the same way they turn towards the sun. And when they're grown Mom's wish was for our children to speak for those who have no voice. May we draw upon a wilder bond, of Charlotte's days past tending tender things. Now we are the ones.

The family asks those who have ever met Charlotte to celebrate her life in your own way. In lieu of flowers, Charlotte would hope that you do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for the less fortunate and/or those in need in Charlotte's name. God bless Charlotte's soul.

Charlotte's closest loved ones who honor her memory and last wish include her husband, Bruce Burton; Son, Douglas (Mayumi) Burton; grandchildren, Luciana and Ilaria; sister, Carol (Richard) Halperin; nieces, Nicole, Heidi, nephew Erik and sister-in-law, Donna Claeyssen. Charlotte is predeceased by her parents. Charlotte will be missed beyond impact.

A private funeral Mass will be held to honor Charlotte’s life. Final resting place will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery where she will rest by her Mother and Father.

Arrangement entrusted to Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108. Share online memories and condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com
