Charlotte Ernst

Charlotte Louise Ernst, 83, Rockford, died Friday, September 27, 2013 in P.A. Peterson Center For Health. Born November 11, 1929 in Milwaukee, WI, daughter of William and Beatrice Gehl Pier. Married Bernard C. Ernst in St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Milwaukee on June 26, 1954. A graduate of Marquette University Dental Hygiene Program, Char was employed as a dental hygienist in her husband's dental practice for over 25 years. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church and had previously been a long-time member of the Cathedral of St. Peter.

Survivors include her husband, Bernie; son Stephen (Lynn) Ernst and their children Melissa, Brent, Audrey and Karl; son Thomas (Michelle) Ernst and their children Maria and Michael; daughter Helen (Douglas) Brooks and their children James, Peter and William; son Paul (Karen) Ernst and their children Matthew, Brian and Catherine; son David (Melissa) Ernst and their children Max, Kate and Lucy; great-grandson, Jackson Steltmann; sisters, Constance (Gerald) Zander, Patricia (John) Megan, Vivian (Jackson) Smith; brother, William (Joanne) Pier and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 in the Cathedral of St. Peter with Rev. Carl Beekman officiating. Entombment in St. Mary/St. James Mausoleum. Visitation from 4:30 p.m.until 7:30 p.m. on Monday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with a Rosary to be recited at &:00 p.m. Visitation also from 9:30 a.m. until time of the Mass at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Poor Clare Corpus Christi Monastery, 2111 S. Main St. Rockford, Il 61102 or Rockford Rescue Mission, 715 W. State, Rockford, IL 61102.
