“Harley Charley”
Charlie V. Meyer, 54, of Rockford died after a courageous battle with Leukemia on July 23, 2015 at Swedish American Hospital. Born February 25, 1961 the son of Vernon and Shirley (Swenson) Meyer. Graduated from Guilford High School and worked as a logistic driver for Quest Diagnostics for over 15 years. Charlie’s true passion was riding his Harley and taking time to enjoy life. He loved playing drums and listening to music, learning about American History and he was known to enjoy his favorite beverage, Spotted Cow. He was a fun, loving and caring man who will be missed deeply by his family and the many special friends that carried him through this past year. The family wishes to thank those special friends of his for their heartfelt care and compassion.
Survivors include his brother, James (Robin) Meyer; brothers-in-law, Jim Robertson and Dwight Harden; nieces and nephews; Stacey (Nathan) Fry, Doug Ramsey, Lindsey (Michael) Calloway, Michele Meyer, Michael (Valerie) Meyer and Emily (Fiancé Zach Zwiger) Meyer; great nieces and nephews; Summer , Savannah and Hudson Ramsey, Ramsey and Mason Fry, and Elise Meyer; former sister-in-law, Mary Meyer. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Kathy Robertson and Karen Harden.
Memorial service Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Northeast Christian Church, 5651 E. Riverside Blvd., at 2:00 pm. After the service in Harley Charley’s memory please throw on the leathers and ride on over to the Lombardi club to continue the celebration of his life, fancy clothing not permitted. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family for a fund to be established. Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel has assisted the family.
