Charles Randle (Randy) Osborne
Loving husband and father of 4 children, 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren passed away January 19, 2019. Randy was born in Rockford, IL on July 10, 1929. Son to William and Mary (Lazzio) Osborne. He married Mary Wainwright on November 2, 1947. They have 4 children; Michael (Anna), Ronald (Pam), Nancy (Mike) Van Milligen and Patricia (Phil) Dietrich.
Randy spent his career as a member of Local 498 Ironworkers, working 1st at Linden Industrial Services and then Area Erectors. Randy lived his life to the fullest and if he took something on, he gave it his all. As a father, his passion for life spilled over on ours – whether he was walking on his hands on the top of the swing set, building an ice rink in the back yard or bringing turtle eggs back from our annual Wisconsin fishing trip – life was always full. Besides being a loving husband and father, he was a man of faith and valued being a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where he and Mary were members for over 60 years. He was a Boy Scout Leader and served on a number of fund committees for the Ironworkers. His hobbies are too numerous to mention – he was always doing something! Throughout his life he was an avid fisherman, woodworker, gardener and raised ponies and dogs. One of his true joys later in life was building and donating wren houses for everyone he knew; giving away over 1,000 birdhouses.
Above all, his true love was spending time and sharing adventures and love with his wife and family. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 3300 Rural St, Rockford, IL 61107. Visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service.
