Charles Michael Wolfe Sr., 68, of Rockford, passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center surrounded by loved ones. He was born March 15, 1949 in Wichita, Kansas. The son of Charles Russell and Mary Wolfe. A US Army Vietnam Veteran also serving in the Army Reserves and National Guard, retiring after 23 ½ years of active service. He married his loving wife Lauretta Kraft on Feb. 13, 1971 in Hebron, IL. They were married 46 years. Charles was a welder/fabricator by trade, working for Sundstrand and IPS. Most recently, he was a welding lab tech at Rock Valley College. He enjoyed working on cars, fishing and creating metal art. He was a member of The American Legion Post 192 in Marengo. He had a heart of gold, hardworking hands and was able to make people laugh by just sharing a story. Charles was loved by his family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Survived by his wife, Lauretta Wolfe; children, Shelley Wolfe, Charles Wolfe Jr. (Sarina Phillips), Darren (Amanda) Wolfe, Derek (Beth) Wolfe, Kari Baker (Jeremy Hause); grandchildren, Michael, Benjamin, Jacob, Lydia, Nathan, Kruze, Brantley, Brianna, Greggory; Siblings, Steve (Kathy) Wolfe, Becky (Ed) Zagaruyka and Larry (Tracey) Moll, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation Thursday, July 6 at Maywood Evangelical Free Church from 5-7 p.m. and continues on Friday at 10 a.m. until time of funeral service Friday, July 7, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Maywood Evangelical Free Church, 3621 Samuelson Rd. with Pastor Greg Kniseley officiating. Interment in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
