Charles “Chuck” William Voigt, 72, of Rockford, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 in the family home surrounded by loved ones. Chuck was born January 21, 1945 in Chicago and adopted by William and Alice Scott Voigt. He served nine years in the US Army and graduated from Athens College in Athens, Georgia with a degree in finance and accounting. He married Mary Jean Meads on August 3, 1968, and together they had three children. Chuck was employed by Van Sickle and Associates until his retirement earlier this year. He and his wife were members of St. Peter Cathedral. Chuck was an avid reader, focusing on mysteries and military strategy, and a gardener of lilies. He had a sharp wit and a strong sense of loyalty. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Lake Michigan and the Gulf Coast. He is survived by Kristen Hudak, Brian Voigt (Kira), and Erin Keefe (Vince) and seven grandchildren, and was predeceased by his parents.
A funeral Mass is planned for Saturday, October 28, 11 a.m., Saint Peter Cathedral, Rockford. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until the time of the Mass, and a reception to honor Chuck’s life will be held immediately after the funeral. A private burial will be held on Monday.
