Charles L. Martin

Charles “Chuck” L. Martin, age 80, of Rockford, IL, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024. 

Chuck was born in Brodhead, WI on July 31, 1943, the son of Lawrence Thomas and Blanch Elaine (Vickers) Martin. He graduated from Freeport High School, Class of 1961. Chuck was the proud owner and operator of C. Martin and Sons Well Drilling for over 40 dedicated years. He married Gloria Lee on November 3, 1968, in Pecatonica, Illinois. 

Chuck enjoyed spending his spare time tinkering, fixing things and building engines. He even rebuilt numerous antique tractors to enjoy driving them. Chuck was a lifetime member of the LLL Club of Rockford. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Chuck will be dearly missed.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Gloria Martin; children, Curtis (SheilaRae) Martin, Glenn Martin, Cheryl (Dave) Reum, Sue (Bob) Berogan, Brian (Mary) Martin and Wade (Ginny) Martin; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Beverly Sorn, Dave (Carol) Martin, Mary Lynn Koester and sister-in-law, Dorothy Martin. Chuck is predeceased by his parents; son, Aaron Martin; brother, Larry Martin and sister, Charlotte “June” Walters. 

Cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Chuck’s life will be planned for a future date.
