Celeste Marie Gilbert

Celeste Marie Gilbert, 53, Rockford, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 8, 1970, in Dixon, the daughter of Robert and Carol (Hidden) Snow. Celeste was a graduate of Newman Central Catholic High School, class of 1988. She married Mark Gilbert on December 23, 1991, in Clovis, NM. Celeste worked as a claims supervisor for the Freeport Health Network for many years.

Survived by her husband, Mark; her mother, Carol Snow; her siblings, James (Heather) Snow, Ann (Bruce) Janssen, Thomas Snow and Mary (Timothy) Ortgie-sen; her brother-in-law, Greg (Millie) Gilbert; her sister-in-law, Tina Gilbert; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her father, Robert Snow, her brother-in-law, Kirk Gilbert, father and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Janice Gilbert and her niece, Jenna Janssen.

She enjoyed traveling the world and countless other adventures, riding on the back of a Harley Davidson motorcycle with the wind in her hair, relaxing on the pontoon boat on a warm summer afternoon, but most importantly just spending time with friends and family. She will be remembered for her radiant smile, infec-tious laugh, boundless love and kindness, endless humor, and a vast collection of impressions, voices, and nicknames.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, May 26, 2023, at the Cathedral of St. Peter, 1243 N. Church St., Rockford, IL 61103, with Reverend Jeremy A. Trowbridge officiating. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S.
