Catherine "Katie" Ann Sartino

Catherine “Katie” Ann Sartino, 89, of Rockford, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021.

Katie was born in Stoughton, WI on October 12, 1931, daughter of George and Marion (LaFleur) Wileman. She married Michael T. Sartino on August 5, 1950. He passed away December 8, 2019. Katie was employed with Amerock Corp. for over 25 years before retiring. She enjoyed playing softball as a catcher, doing arts and crafts and even used to knit hats for premature infants to wear at birth. She also loved her many trips to northern Wisconsin for family reunions which later continued into family vacations. Katie was related to the founders of Edgerton, WI where her family took her to visit each year for Mother’s Day. She worked hard her whole life to take care of her family. Katie’s happiest times were when she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving relatives include her children, Michael G. Sartino, Theresa (Tim) Molander and Natalie (Gregg) Severson; grandchildren, Michael, AJ (Tami), Jimmy (Katie), Jeff, Katie, Mandy, Nick, Carissa and Gabrielle; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Alice (Rollie) Melbye and numerous nieces and nephews. Katie is predeceased by her parents; husband, Michael T. Sartino; siblings, George, John, David and Mary Lou; daughter-in-law, Jane Sartino. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Heartland Hospice, especially Natalie, for their kindness, care and compassion.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation and service will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Rockford, IL 61103. Final resting place will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. A family gathering will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Lakewood Hills subdivision, 4188 Lakeside Dr. Rockford, IL 61101. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family of Catherine Sartino.
