Carolyn J. Hockman

Carolyn J. Hockman, 77, of Rockford passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at Wesley Willows. Born December 15, 1936, in Freeport, the daughter of Morrell and Lena (TerHark) Hockman. Carolyn trained at Swedish American Hospital and received her Bachelors Degree in Nursing from DePaul University. She was an avid bowler and animal lover, especially cats and Benji. She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, playing cards and music; she played the hand bells. Carolyn loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a super sister and super auntie.
Survived by brother, Harold (Martha) Hockman; sister, Joyce Fisher; nieces and nephews, Wendy (Tim) Slick-Davidson, Waldo Hockman and Andrew (Holly) Hockman; special nephew, Benjamin (Michelle) Hardy; great niece, Hunter Davidson; great nephews, Ryne and Blaise Hockman; extended family, Beth (Dave) Austin and their children, Lauren, Lindsey and Andrew Austin, Jim Fisher, John (Heidi) Fisher and their children, Nola and Meredith Fisher; best friends, Joan and Bennie Hardy. Predeceased by her parents, brothers, Donald Hockman and Gary Hockman; nephew, Anthony Slick; brother-in-law, Louis Fisher.
Memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2821 North Bell School Road. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Private inurnment in Oakland Cemetery in Freeport. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Carolyn's name to the Good Samaritan Fund at Wesley Willows or to the Music Fund at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
