Caroline Rockwood

Caroline (Appoloni) Rockwood 78 of Rockford died Wednesday November 4, 2009 in her home.  She was born October 5, 1931 in Rockford.  Daughter of Maria and John Appoloni.  She married Herbert Rockwood on July 4, 1959 in St Anthony Church.  Herbert Predeceased her in 2003.  She was employed at Amerock and Brearly Co. for many years.  She loved dancing and spent several years at Arthur Murray Dance Studio instructing and winning several awards.  She was also the official photographer for family events.  Survivors include her sisters; Theresa Cortese and Betty Buffo, both of Rockford. Sisters-in-law; Leandra Rockwood, Olive Purdy and Beverly (William) Manning. Niece and nephew and many great, great-great, great-great-great nieces and nephews.  Also, Godchildren Beth Buffo Zimmerman and Clay Cox.She was predeceased by her husband, parents, sister; Judy Edwards and brother; Bruno Appoloni, Brothers-in-law; Peter Buffo, Angelo Cortese, Sid Edwards, Kenneth Rockwood and Willis Purdy.Funeral Mass at 10 am Tuesday November 10, 2009 in St Anthony Church with the Franciscan Friars officiating.  Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.  Visitation from 9am until time of service Tuesday in the church.  Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory 1860 S.
