Carol L Mosby, 78, of Rockford, formerly of Huntley, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017. She was born on May 21, 1939, to parents John and Elna (Ohlsen) Lorentzen. She married James Mosby on October 8, 1977. Carol was a devoted educator, teaching English and serving as an Assistant Principal. Most of her years in education were at Thornton Township High School in Harvey, IL as well as at several other south suburban schools. She received her Bachelor’s degree in English from Wittenberg University in 1961 and went on to receive her Master’s in Education from Northern Illinois University in 1973. She was a faithful member of Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church. Carol enjoyed playing her flute, directing the bell choir at church, reading, getting together with her many friends, her dogs, and traveling throughout the world. Carol’s love, influence, and knowledge will live on through the lives that she has touched.
Carol is survived by her son, Gary (friend Julie) Hunt; sister, Joan Hoexter; niece, Cheryl (Jeff) Anderson; nephews, Dan (Claudia) Hoexter and James (Julia) Hoexter. She is predeceased by her husband, James F. Mosby on May 25, 2017 and her parents.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 2 pm at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, 10805 Main Street, Huntley, IL 60142. Memorials can be given to: The Alzheimers Association or the Anti Cruelty Society. Express condolences online at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
