Carol L. Mcfeggan

Carol L. Peterson McFeggan, 62, lifelong Rockford resident, died Monday, June 29, 2009.  Born March 31, 1947, daughter of Rex and Esther Reifschneider Peterson.  Graduated from West High School and attended Western Illinois University.  Married Thomas F. McFeggan in Rockford on March 9, 1968.  Employed  by Rockford Public Schools since 1981, currently serving as receptionist at Auburn High School.  In 2009 she was named as a finalist in the support personnel category  for ""Those Who Excel"" in the Rockford School District. Member of Riverside Community Church.  She was founder of the Rockford Homicide Survivors Support Group.  She had also been a volunteer for Northern Illinois Hospice & Grief Center.  Carol was a kindred, gentle spirit with a kind heart and a dash of sass. She was a welcoming personality and was always available for a hug.  She was truly an angel among us.     Survivors include her husband, Thomas; daughter, Sarah E. McFeggan; aunt, Ruth Tiegs; uncle, Ed (Millie) Reifschneider and several cousins. Predeceased by her parents, brother, Craig (Boo) Peterson, an aunt and an uncle.       A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Rev. Bobby Sheets officiating. Visitation from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home on Tuesday, July 7, 2009.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
