Carol J. Hamilton Scott

Carol J. Hamilton Scott, 82, Rockford, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017, at SwedishAmerican Hospital due to complications after surgery. She was born September 13, 1934, in Eldora, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Altha (Warburg) Peterson. Carol lived in Rockford since 1952, coming from Waterman. She married Marshall Hamilton in Rockford on October 7, 1956. He passed away in Rockford on March 26, 2010. She married Richard B. Scott in Rockford on November 8, 2003. He passed away on January 11, 2016. Carol worked as an Orthopedic Nurse at SwedishAmerican Hospital for 28 years, retiring in January, 2004. She was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church. Carol enjoyed traveling, playing cards, cross stitching, and going antiquing with her friends. She liked watching sports on television, especially college basketball, and was an avid Cubs fan. Carol loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.
Survived by her children, Victoria (Scott) Brean of Rockford, Thomas Hamilton of Bandon, OR, and Christine (Jeffrey) LaMantia of Rockford; her grandchildren, Joseph and Alison LaMantia; step-children, Richard (Dee) Scott, Muskegan, MI, Robert (Kay) Scott, Grand rapids, MI, Charles (Polly) Scott, West Chester, PA, Susan Scott Wilkening, Harvard, IL; step-grandchildren, James (Kristin) Scott, Randee (Craig) Bowder, Troy (Meribeth) Wolffis, Todd (Debbie) Wolffis, Carrie (Brent) Southland, Jeff (Nicole) Scott, Darcy Scott, Katy Scott, Avery (Patty) Wilkening, Zachary Wilkening, and Nathan (Kyla) Wilkening; many step-great grandchildren; her brother, Lloyd Peterson, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, her husband Marshall Hamilton and her husband Richard Scott; her brother Richard Peterson and his wife, Janice.
Memorial visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday, April 21, 2017, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Memorial services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Court Street United Methodist Church, 215 N. Court St. with Reverend Calvin Culpepper officiating.
