Carol Janet Lundeen Bennehoff, resident of Wesley Willows, completed her earthly journey on May 7, 2023.
She was born May 17, 1922, in Rock Grove Township, the daughter of Will and Bertha (Zimmerman) Meinert. The family moved to Green County, WI in 1930 and she graduated from Brodhead High School in 1940. After graduation, she moved to Rockford and was employed at Barnes Drill and Pickens Real Estate, retiring in 1981. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist and was church treasurer. She also worked on the merger committee to merge with Beth Eden United Methodist Church where she has been an active member. She enjoyed being a volunteer at Rockford Memorial Hospital for 30 years and was a member of the Auxiliary Board. In Carol's lifetime, she enjoyed fishing trips to northern WI and Savanna, IL with Elmer, several trips and cruises with Dale, church activities, reading, singing, word puzzles, visits with friends and most of all - family gatherings. She participated in many activities while living at Wesley Willows.
Carol married Elmer Lundeen on July 25, 1954, in Rockford. He died July 24, 1986.
On December 30, 1989, she married C. Dale Bennehoff. He passed away on May 31, 2011.
She is survived by her stepdaughters, Vickie (Gene) Lashinski of Freeport and Cheryl (Kevin) Finkenbinder of Orangeville; stepdaughters-in-law, Elaine (Dave) Hullinger and Eileen Bennehoff as well as step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and cousins.
Predeceased by her parents, husbands, brother Virgil Meinert and stepsons, Ron Bennehoff, Terry Bennehoff and Elwood Lundeen.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Beth Eden United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Final resting place will conclude in White Rock Cemetery, Kings, IL. Memorials may be made to the Mercyhealth Volunteer Association..
