Carol Ann Merten

October 25, 1946 — February 16, 2009

Carol Ann Merten, 62, of Oswego passed away Monday, February 16, 2009 at P.A. Peterson in Rockford after a courageous battle with an early onset of Alzheimers Disease. Born October 25, 1946 in Milwaukee, WI to Irwin and Isabel Younk. She attended St. Marys grade school and Menomonee Falls high school in WI. Graduate of Alverno College in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Carol worked as a medical technologist at Dreyer Medical Clinic where she found many wonderful friends. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Aurora. She loved her girls and enjoyed reading and doing her needlepoint cross stitch and being at the lake with her beloved husband sailing. Special gratitude to all the dedicated staff at P.A. Peterson and her wonderful caregivers Jodi and Annie. Survivors include her husband, Ronald RW of Oswego; daughters, Kristina (Bill) Stout of Grand Ridge and Amy Merten of Aurora; three adored grandchildren, Rachel, Samuel and Daniel Stout of Grand Ridge; sisters, Mary Ellen Smith of Rockford and Kathleen (James) Woodlock of Cape Coral, FL and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law. Funeral Mass Friday, February 20, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 722 High St. Aurora, IL with Father Jerome Leake officiating. Inurnment in River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia. Family assisted by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Rockford, IL.
