Carmen W. Capriola

Carmen W. Capriola, 84, Rockford, was called home to serve the Lord on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 3, 1930, in Rockford, the son of Michael and Lucy (Lassandro) Capriola. Carmen was a veteran of the Air Force. He married Paula Brawner-Tyson in Rockford in 1979. Carmen retired from Camcar/Textron in 1992. He was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church.
Survived by his wife of 34 years, Paula; children, Lynn (Bill) Capriola-Webb, Debra (Bob Cholke) Capriola, Mike Capriola, Mark (Kellie Cannon) Capriola, and John Capriola; stepchildren, Summer Tyson and Aaron Tyson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Anita Chincherna and Mary Jane (Fred) Johnson. Predeceased by his step-grandson, Barrett Falzone. Special acknowledgement to Angel and Jenna who stayed by his side day and night, truly a man's best friend.
Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 9, 2014, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Dr. with Reverend John R. Evans officiating. Burial in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, at a later date. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M., until 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. and from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. on Monday at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded.
