Carmelita Scott, Rockford and the Chicago suburbs, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013. She was born in Alix, Arkansas; the daughter of Harold and Helen (Price) McElvany. She graduated from Evanston Township High School and attended Kendall College, earning her Bachelors degree. She went on to earn earned her Masters degrees in Special Education & Social Work.
She married David Scott on August 24, 1958. Carm devoted her life to children spending most of her career teaching at Lyons Township High School. She loved music and was the organist and choir director at many churches. She loved her family and will be missed by her friends. She was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, David; children, Mark (Sue) Scott and Keli Scott; grandchildren, Harrison, Addison, Sheridan, DJ and Samantha; as well as her beloved nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Predeceased by her parents.
Funeral Service will be at 3:30 pm on Thursday, June 27, 2013 in Wesley Willows Chapel, 4141 N Rockton Ave, with Reverend Calvin Culpepper officiating. Visitation from 2:00 pm on Thursday until the time of service in the chapel at Wesley Willows.
