Carmaletta “Gail” Ingram, 67, passed away on September 14, 2023. Born in Rockford, Il on August 28th, 1956, daughter to LaVerne and Marcia (Segraves) Wilson. A 1974 graduate of Durand High School, Gail immediately started what would be most of her working career, her military service in the U.S. Air Force. During that time, she would join the air force softball team, was stationed in Texas, Arkansas, and even Guam, becoming a staff sergeant, and earning several awards along the way. Upon retirement from the military, she would return to Rockford where she would spend another five years working at OSF St. Anthony as a Respiratory Therapist. Her last and most important job was when she became a mother. As a strong, single, disabled mom, she will forever be remembered as the most resilient person everyone knew. Gail will be missed for her pure selflessness and determination, encouraging and standing up for the benefit of everyone else.
She will be missed by those who loved her most, her children Franchesca “Frankie” and Madeline “Maddie” Ingram; her father LaVerne Wilson; siblings Gary (Ruth) Ingram, Marcella Heck, and Tracey (Mike) Merrell; her nieces and nephews Christina (Nick) Schell, Wesley (Michelle) Haskins, Nicholas and Olivia Merrell; cat children Cindy and Oliver. She is predeceased by her mother, Marcia; nephew Bradley Ingram; and beloved pets Toby, Daisy, and Dusty.
Cremation rites were accorded with Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel. A time to celebrate Gail’s life will take place on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the family residence from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. A very special thank you to Gail’s entire neighborhood for all the love, care, and support they showed to Gail and the family- we could not have made it through this without you.
