Carlito A. De Vera, 64 of Rockford, IL, died in Santa Maria, Bulacan, Philippines, on Sunday, January 21st, 2024.
He was born in Santa Maria, Bulacan in 1959 to Roberto Sr. and Leticia De Vera. Known more commonly by his nickname Lito, he attended Sacred Heart Academy before earning his Associate Degree in Marine Engineering at PMI College. He went on to work on a merchant ship traveling the world before finally taking residence in Chicago, IL. He officially became a U.S. Citizen in November of 1992 . He chose many career paths throughout his life, eventually working at Forex in his later years as a Freight Forwarding Associate before retiring in 2022.
Lito was preceded in death by his parents Roberto Sr. and Leticia, and brother Roberto Jr. He is survived by his sons Derrick and Derylle De Vera from his first marriage to Ruth S. Manzano and also son Carlito B. De Vera Jr from his second marriage to Lucila Basco.
A visitation will take place for Lito on Friday, February 9, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois 61108. Visitation will continue on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Arlington Memorial Park.
