Carl L. Stohle, 94, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Born on July 13, 1930, son to Carl E. and Florence (Sandberg) Stohle. Born and raised in Rockford, Carl enlisted in the Air Force at age 17. From 1947 until 1951, he was stationed in Korea and Japan. He was honored to serve his nation and was proud to be a Korean veteran. Upon returning to the states, he met his “little flower” and love of his life, Nancy La Pointe. They wed June 5, 1953, and shared 58 years of marriage before her passing in May of 2012. Carl was a member of Teamsters Local 325, and ended his career as a truckdriver in 1988. He enjoyed many outdoor activities, notably waterskiing on his 72nd birthday and first time kayaking at age 90. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan, as well as a member of Alpine Lutheran Church. What was most important to him was spending time with family.
He is survived by his children Cheri (Denny) Wayne, Mark (Christine) Stohle, and Paula (Joe) Cascio; his grandchildren Douglas (Amie), Bradley (Laura), Amy (Jim), Holly, Renee, Brian (Jill) and Jennifer (Chris) as well as 13 great grandchildren, and nieces and cousins. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Nancy; their son Steven; his sister, Karline. A special thank you to his end of life caregivers, Jurga and Marta for their kindness and compassion that was given to Carl and his family.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service, 11:00 a.m. at Alpine Lutheran Church, 5001 Forest View Ave, Rockford, IL 61108.
