Carl R. Trank, 86, of Rockford, died Saturday, August 16, 2008, in Swedish American Hospital. Born August 10, 1922 in Rockford, the son of Carl G. and Martha (Sadewater) Trank. He married Dorothy Jennings in Rockford on June 24, 1944. Carl was a plant engineer for JI Case for 31 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Carl loved music, wood working and spending time with his family. In 1961 he built a cottage in Lake Ripley, WI where he and his family vacationed for many years. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; children, Sherry (Russ) Anderson, Robert (Jan) Trank, Mike (Tina) Trank, Randy (Julie) Trank, Debbie Peterson, and Terry Trank; 12 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, and sisters, Margaret Gyllenswan and Lucille Thornbloom. Funeral Service at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2008, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, with Rev. Nat Bauer officiating. Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery.
