Carl R. Anderson

Carl R. Anderson, 90, of Rockford, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020.

Carl was born in Rockford, IL on March 28, 1930, son of Carl O. and Gertrude (Notch) Anderson. He graduated from West High School, Class of 1948. Carl married Sandra J. Sharer on September 28, 1959 in Janesville, WI. He was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church while residing in Austin, TX and later was very active with Temple Baptist Church upon returning to Rockford. Carl had many achievements throughout his lifetime career in real estate. He began working as a sales agent for Whitehead, Inc. Realtors and worked his way up to being President and Chief Operating Officer of the company from 1978-83. Carl was later the Senior Regional Vice-President for Coldwell Bank and then President and Chief Executive Officer of Financial Partners International. A few of Carl’s many achievements include Senior Instructor for the Realtors National Marketing Institute, Recipient of NAR’s Omega Tau Rho award, “Realtor of the Year” in 1974 and 1978, Past President of the Rockford Board of Realtors, Member of the National Speakers Association, President of Metro Rockford Housing Development Corporation, developed two senior-citizen high-rise apartment buildings, Realtors National Marketing Institute Board of Governors and Past Director of the Greater Rockford Chamber of Commerce. Carl was very proud of all that he accomplished. He retired in 2002, having owned 3 Sylvan Learning Centers in Austin, TX. Most of all, Carl enjoyed time spent with dear family and friends.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Sandy; children, Dale (Mimi) Anderson, Dawn Marie Rhein (Daniel Abramson) and Constance Renee (John) O’Neill; grandchildren, Lee (Heather) Anderson, C.J. (Samantha) Anderson, Ryan O’Neill (Emily Lopez), Matthew O’Neill (Lauren Daukus), Christina and Michael Rhein; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Riley, Owen and Avery and numerous nieces and nephews. Carl is predeceased by his parents, son, Donald W. Anderson; brother, Donald D. Anderson and 2 grandchildren, Nicole and Aaron.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2020 at Scandinavian Cemetery in Rockford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rockford Rescue Mission.
