Carl K. Henry, 94, of Rockford, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, May 9, 2015. Born on February 28, 1921; to parents, Elisha and Etta Mae (Clark) Henry, in Cainsville, Tennessee. Carl married his loving wife, Palma, on October 16, 1948; in Rockford. Carl proudly served his country in World War II, in the U.S. Air Corp, as a tail gunner in the 464th Bomb Group. He worked at Forest City Electric for many years, retiring in 1983. A member of St. Rita Catholic Church, the American Legion, and Venetian Club. He loved to read and was a loyal Cubs and Bears fan.
Carl is survived by his wife, Palma Henry; daughter, Marietta Henry; siblings, Pete (Elenore) Henry of Florence, AL, Gladys Jacobs of Morrison, TN; brother-in-law, Ampellio (Rose) DalPra; and numerous nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; son, Thomas; brothers Carson, Earnest, Herbert, Wendell “Hank” Henry, and sister, Velma Rayburn; and grand-dog, Maggie.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Thursday, May 14, 2015, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Dr., Rockford, IL, 61109, with burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery immediately following Mass. Visitation will be Thursday at Church, from 9:30 a.m. until time of prayers at 10:45 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the family. Funeral arrangements have been cared for by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL, 61108.
