Caleb Benjamin Chastain

Caleb Benjamin Chastain, 22, Rockford, passed away in Rockford on Wednesday, August 5, 2020. He was born on March 24, 1998, in Rockford. Caleb was most recently employed as a fork truck driver with Goodwill Industries. He was a long time member of the Boy Scouts of America where he attained the rank of Life scout and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow and was chosen to attend the NYLT leadership training camp. He enjoyed playing guitar, was an avid gamer, riding ATVs, fishing, and his trip to the boundary waters. Caleb was a hardworking man with a very loving and gentle heart. He was fun to be around, and always willing to help anyone in need.
Survived by his mother, Teresa Lester, Rockford; his son, Jeremy Zimmer; his aunt, Tammie Lester, Stillman Valley, his uncle, James “Jamie” (Melissa) Lester, Stillman Valley, his aunt, Lisa Cozad, MO; his paternal grandmother, Marilyn Chastain; many cousins including McKinley Lester; his nephew and niece, Justin and Jessa Burris; his father, Alan (Tami) Chastain, Florida; step siblings, Jeremy (Mykele) Ramsey, OH and Tiffany (Sam) Gerthung, FL; his aunts and uncles, Mike Chastain, Keith (Sally)Chastain, Larry Chastain, Karen Dayhoff, FL, and Sue (Bob) Sobieck, MN. Predeceased by his brother, Scott Burris; his maternal grandparents, Winston “James” and Carol Lester; and his paternal grandfather, Loren Chastain.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. A Celebration of Life will be determined at a later date. Due to Covid-19, masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be followed. Memorials may be made to the family.
