Bryan Hulstedt 63 of Rockford passa(c)d away at 11am October 09, 2009 in his home surrounded by his loved ones. After a long battle with cancer. He was born June 1, 1946 in Belvidere, son of Donald Hulstedt and Beulah (Leach) Johnson. He married Catherine Bryan was a Rockford City Police officer for 10 years, he then went on to work for many engineering firms, including Gilman Engineering of Janesville, JT Whitney Fastner Engineering and his own company, Smartwire Systems. Through these positions he was fortunate to travel throughout the world. He enjoyed fishing with his step son and grandson, astronomy and gadgets and gizmos. He was a clever and brilliant man, resulting in several patents and many partially completed inventions. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church, The Rockford Amateur Astronomers Club, LLL Club, The Phantom Regiment Alumni and Masons. Graduated East High School in 1966 and the Milwaukee School of Engineering..

Survivors include his wife Catherine McTavish, Stepson Jeremy(Chandra)Pelikan of Winslow. Two Grandchildren Tallon 8 and Camree 6. His brother Tim(Deborah)Hulstedt of Loves Park, sister Susan(Richard)Veruchi and numerous nieces nephews and in-laws. Predeceased by his parents. Special thanks to his special niece Jodi Erickson for all the time she spent with her Uncle this summer, during his illness, his sister Susan for getting him to all his treatments and his sister-in-law Susan McTavish for her help during his final days.

Memorial service will be held at 11am, Tuesday October 13, 2009 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. With Rev. Gavin Brant officiating. Private burial services at a later date. Visitation from 10 am until time of service Tuesday in the funeral home. Express online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com
