Bruce L. Cole, 81
Rockford- Bruce L. Cole, 81 passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014 at The Atrium. Born October 21, 1932, in La Porte City, Ia., the son of Roy & Geneva (Reed) Cole. Served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Married Marylon J. Barnes on Sept. 22, 1955, in Waterloo, IA. Bruce worked for Rath Packing, Ingersoll, Rockwell International and Abar Ipsen. Bruce was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Bruce was an avid sports fan especially for the Detroit Lions. In addition, he enjoyed bowling, playing golf, spending time at the lake with his family, and reading history books.
Survivors include wife Marylon; daughters Debra (David) Levine, JoAnna (Ricky) Davis, and SuzAnne (Galen) Buchanan; grandchildren Katherine and Matthew Levine, Jessica (Jeffrey) Holden and Patrick Davis; great grandchildren Ryan Davis and Nicholas Holden. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of The Atrium and Transitions Hospice for all their loving care.
Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4050 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, IL with the Rev. Douglas Willams officiating. Visitation 5-7 pm Tuesday, August 5th at Aldersgate and also 10 a.m. to time of service on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
