Rockford- Bruce F. Bogenrief, 78, passed away 7:15 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2014 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born February 15, 1936, in Rockford, the son of Fay and Carol (Petersen) Bogenrief. Married Doris Smith in Rockford, on July 20, 1956. She predeceased him on November 30, 2001. Bruce work at Powertrain, Division of Borg-Warner, retiring in 1991. Bruce enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, reading, old movies, college football, cross word puzzles, country music, the Weather Channel, Budweiser, all Red Heads, and his beloved companion, Arky.
He is survived by daughters; Bonnie (John) Chojnicki, Connie Suhr, and Julie Allen (Paul Geiken); grandchildren Kirsten, Chris (Lindsey) Chojnicki, Adam and Alicia Suhr, and Macie Lawson; great grandchildren Abigayle and August Chojnicki; sister Sue (Frank) Martin, Debbie (Dale) Walker, and sister in-law Carol (Jerry) Nelson. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Doris, parents, grandparents, brother, and son in-law.
Services will be 7 pm Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel. Visitation will be 5- 7 pm Wednesday. Burial will be private.
