Brian Clarke

January 24, 1937 — August 19, 2023

On August 19th, 2023, Brian Clarke passed away at home, surrounded by his family, at the age of 86.

Brian was born in Belfast, North Ireland on January 24th, 1937, son of John and May (Wilson) Clarke. He moved to the United States in 1969 and worked for 41 years for the Lloyd Hearing Aid Corp. Brian married Margaret (Luke) Clarke on April 13th, 1971. He was a member of the Iron Hall Church while living in Ireland and later became a member of Morning Star Church in Rockford.

Brian found wisdom in the Bible and devoted much of his life to its study. He developed an aptitude for electronics and machines and could repair cars or watches; had a love of music and records; an interest in photography, gardening, and bird watching; a talent for drawing; and had great compassion for his fellow travelers. A man of dry humor, he would often part with a “Bob’s your uncle” or wish well to an “Old Bean.” He was a devoted husband, patient and loving father, and a proud grandpa. He was loved by those who knew him and held in high regard by those he met. He will be dearly missed.

Brian is survived by his wife, Margaret Clarke; children, Colin and Elaine (Andy) Carlson; grandchildren, Braylond, Kinley, and Axel; sisters, Joan Clarke and Carole (Frazier) Williamson; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Brian is predeceased by his parents.

Private family services will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel. Final resting place will be in Arlington Memorial Park, Rockford, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made in Brian’s name to the Rockford Rescue Mission, https://give.rockfordrescuemission.org/donate
