Bounkong Vongsavath

Bounkong Vongsavath, 73, of Rockford, IL, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023, at 10:55am at his residence. His youngest daughter, Phonesavanh “Noi” Ceballos and grandson, Jadyn Vongsavath by his side.

Bounkong was born in Laos on October 10, 1949. He and his family immigrated to the US on June 6, 1990, and landed in Cedar Rapids, IA. They later settled in Mount Pleasant, IA.

Bounkong dedicated years of service working as an assembly line worker for Hon and Heatilator.

Bounkong was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener and loved good garage sale deals. He also fiercely loved his wife, his kids, and his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Vanh Vongsavath of Rockford, IL; Daughter, Pho (Tom) Phanthouvong of Mount Pleasant, IA; Son, Phetsamone Vongsavath in Laos; Son, Sakhone (Kelsi) Vongsavath of Marion, IA; and, Daughter, Phonesavanh “Noi” (Nicholas) Ceballos of Wake Forest, NC. Grandchildren: Jadyn Vongsavath, Kassie Phanthouvong, Taylee Phanthouvong, Lilliana Ceballos, Parker Vongsavath, Ari Vongsavath, Gabriella Ceballos and Cecilia Vongsavath.

Additional relatives; a sister in Spain, brother in France, two brothers in Laos and six grandchildren in Laos.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, January 22, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. located at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108.

A traditional Laotian ceremony will take place on Monday, January 23, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the family’s residence, 4304 O’Connell St. Rockford, IL 61109.
