Bounheng Boutchannha

Bounheng Boutchannha of Rockford, IL, passed away on Sunday, August 20th, 2023 with his children by his side.

He was born in Pakse, Laos, son to Oui and Deng Boutchannha.

Bounheng was an officer with the Lao Police Academy before marrying the love of his life, Manivone. They moved to the US to be with family and once settled, he worked as an engineer/machinist and retired from Barnes International after 27 years.

Bounheng had a passion for family and friends, and was an avid member of the Royal LAO Police, Former Lao Police Association, Rockford Wat Lao Phothikaram, and community. He was also a former board member at the Rockford Wat Lao Temple.

His hobbies were fishing, gardening, hosting house parties, playing badminton, singing karaoke, traveling and MC’ing events in our area.

He will be missed dearly by his loving family and numerous friends he has made here.

He is survived by his 3 children -

Cindy (Matthew) VanGundy,

Linna (Alex) Munz and grandson Blake,

Varitt (Lindsey) Boutchannha and granddaughter Karalyne.

His younger sister, Keo, in Laos.

Sister-in-law, Khem, in Rockford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife-Manivone in 2021, and older brother - Bounsy in 2023.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, September 2nd, 2023 @ 1pm.
