Bill K. Ramsey

February 6, 1954 — January 14, 2014

Bill K. Ramsey, 59, Rockford, died Tuesday, January 14, 2014, after a long fight with cancer. Born on February 6, 1954, in Paducah, Kentucky, the son of Billy Bryant Ramsey and Margaret Louise Ramsey. He married Katharine French in Rockford on August 14, 1994. He was a SQL Developer for PromoWorks, LLC in Schaumburg, IL and continued to commute to work throughout his treatment. He loved to read about programming, philosophy, and a variety of spiritual topics. He was a member of the clergy in ECKANKAR. As an animal lover, his support made it possible for his wife to volunteer to work with the cats at Winnebago County Animal Services. He donated the funds from his late sister, Lisa Sahy's estate, to create a spay/neuter operating room at the WCAS facility. He never stopped learning and looking for the spiritual gems found in everyday experience. He was unfailingly kind and had a deep sense of gratitude for every day he and his wife had together as he worked to overcome his cancer. He was predeceased by his parents and sister. He is survived by his wife and their beloved felines. His family would like to thank all the staff at the Block Integrative Cancer Center in Skokie for their amazing compassionate care, as well as Dr. Tomasz Helenowski, neurosurgeon, for his generosity of spirit and exquisite skills. To honor Bill's memory, spend time in quiet contemplation, share your gratitude for the gift of life with your dear ones, and do a kind deed for someone, human or animal, every day. An ECKANKAR Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 17, at 7:00 p.m., at St. Chad's Episcopal Church, 6245 N. Second St. (corner of N. 2nd and Theodore). Cremation rites to be accorded. Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, assisted the family.
