Beverley A. (Hinkel) Swanson, 83
Rockford- Beverley A. Swanson, 83, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Alpine Fireside. Born June 26, 1931, in Monroe, WI, the daughter of Lawrence & Norma (Hanson) Swanson. Graduate with her Master of Art in Teaching from Rockford College. Beverley taught in the Rockford Public Schools for many years. After retiring she volunteered for FEMA for several years. She enjoyed playing bridge, square dancing, working on cross word and jig saw puzzles, but most of all spending time with her five children going on camping adventures and trips to the zoo.
Survivors include children Lee Ann (John) Patterson, Philip (Catherine) Hinkel, Arthur (Helene) Hinkel, and Lynn Hinkel; grandchildren Dana and Barrett Woodhall, Lorianne (John) Robertson and Tom (Bobbi) Leu; great grandchildren Christian Leu, Maddy and Gabby Roth; brothers Arleigh (Barb) and Alden (Debbie) Swanson; special family friends Jeff and Melissa Stacey, their children Wyatt and Taylor; numerous nieces, nephews, and many special bridge playing friends. Predeceased by parents and son Lori Hinkel.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Werckel, the staff of Alpine Fireside, and Northern Illinois Hospice for all their care and support.
Services will be 11 am Monday, June 15 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N. Rockton Ave, with the Rev. Randy Young officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation from 10 am until time of service. Memorials to The Rockford Literacy Counsel in her name.
