Betty C. Snoy

Betty C. Snoy, 92, Rockford, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at the Bickford House. She was born February 28, 1924, in Grand Rapids, MI, the daughter of Frank and Bertha (Gilbert) Carr. They moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where Betty grew up and graduated from Shortridge High School earning letters in several sports. She was offered an athletic scholarship to Indiana University Indianapolis Extension which she attended until she married Joseph Snoy on February 10, 1945. They moved to Rockford in 1956. Joseph passed away in Rockford on October 22, 2012. Betty was a gifted artist and an outstanding athlete who enjoyed playing golf at the courses in the area. She was volunteer at Midway Village for more than 25 years and was an accomplished craft person. In their 67 years of marriage Betty and Joe enjoyed traveling throughout North American, Europe, and Australia/New Zealand. Betty was a great lover of animals from birds, to her cats, dogs, and horses.
Survived by her daughters, Vickie Snoy and her husband, Niko Popovich of Keyport, NJ, Becky Snoy Laible and her companion, Dave Deem of Machesney Park, and Sara Snoy and her husband, Don Scare of Glenview, IL; her granddaughters, Leslie Laible of Chicago and Julia Snoy of Maryland and her beloved dog, Cody. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Snoy and her son, Philip Snoy.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, May 15, 2016, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel., 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial visitation from 1:00 pm until time of service on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Noah’s Ark, 125 N. Madison St. Rockford, 61107.
