Bette J. Weber (Talley)

Bette J. Weber (Talley), 81, Rockford, died on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 in her daughter’s home surrounded by loving family. Born July 10, 1940 in Rockford, daughter of Calvin and Bertha Branch Alexander. Graduate of West High School. She was the successful owner of Techni-Chem Company for many years, retiring in 2007.
Bette loved people and always made everyone feel welcome. She led a very active fulfilling life. She was a member of the Belvidere Chamber of Commerce. While her girls were growing up she was a Girl Scout leader and active with the P.T.A. She also taught Sunday School and was the choir director at Brooke Road United Methodist Church for a time. Bette was a card playing shark who played cards with the same women from the Melwood Heights neighborhood for over 48 years.
Survivors include her daughters, Jennifer (Mark) Mills, Kathryn Talley and Mary (Bill Johnson) Talley; grandchildren, Candice McVicker, Andrew (Megan Perry) Gummow, Ian Johnson, Kimberly Morris, Chloe (Brian Didier) Talley, Travis (Charity Grijalva) Mills and several great-grandchildren. Also survived by her sisters, Armida Alexander and Sandra Campbell and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; brother, Larry Alexander; sister, Constance Alexander; infant brother, Jerry Alexander; nephew, Stephen Alexander; great-nephew, Neil Jansen and great-niece, Arrin Akre.
Family and friends may gather at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 13, 2021 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with a time of sharing beginning at 5:00 p.m. A celebration of Bette’s life will continue following that at the Lombardi Club.
