Bert H. Anderson

Bert H. Anderson, 86, of Rockford passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 in his home. Born April 17, 1932, in Rockford, the son of Victor and Ethel (Long) Anderson. Bert was a United States Army Veteran serving in Japan. Bert also worked as a construction crew chief for Northern Illinois Gas Company, retiring in 1991 after 35 years. He was a longtime member of the Lithuanian Club where he spent Saturday mornings with his children. Bert enjoyed sitting down with a good western novel, watching his Chicago Bears, walks around the neighborhood and trips to the casino. Above all, Bert cherished his family and wife, Kay. Kathleen "Kay" Conboy Limberg and Bert were married on July 29, 1983 in Rockford. She preceded him in death in 2017. Survived by his children, Jeff (Shari) Anderson, Vickie (Greg) Gittleson, Sue (Ken) Rheingans, Judy Currie, Rich (Joy) Anderson, Andy (Cindy) Limberg, Michele (Kim) Nelson, Nadeen Leopold, Bob (Lori) Limberg, Chip (Ann) Limberg and Don Limberg; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by his parents, Victor and Ethel Anderson, granddaughter, Cassandra Lighthart, sister, Ida Osborn and brother, Clarence Anderson. The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to Bert's neighbors, Sue and Ray. Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 North Rockton Avenue with visitation starting at 10:30 a.m. Burial in Willwood Burial Park Cemetery.
