Bernice A. Terranova, 96, Rockford, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, at home. She was born on January 12, 1928, in Streator, the daughter of A. J. and Anna (Senko) Novotney. She married John A. Terranova, Sr. in Rockford on November 30, 1946. He passed away on May 15, 2011. Bernice worked for many years at various Rockford businesses including, the Rockford Newspaper, Hilander Foods, Pacemaker Foods, Sam’s Club and as a sales representative for Mary Kay Cosmetics. She is a longtime member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and an avid supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriner’s Hospital for Children, Wounded Warriors Project and the Disabled Veterans.

Survived by her children, JoAnn Mandala of San Antonio, FL, Karen (Louis, Sr.) Gugliuzza of Rockford, John (Miechelle) Terranova, Jr. of Rockford, Louis Terranova of Rockford and Marguerite (Thomas) Paravola of Elmhurst; her grandchildren, Andrea (Scott) Meads, Teresa Mandala, Victor (Michelle) Mandala, Jr., A.J. (Jenni) Mandala, Kelli (John) Rolston, Louie, Jr. (Dana) Gugliuzza, Karissa (Terrence) McGraw, Niki (significant other, David Putrus) Terranova, Kris (Katie) Kopel, Sara Terranova, Candice (James) Holder, Lindsey (significant other, Lynette Pestel) Terranova, Zachary (Kelly) Terranova, Ryan (fiancé, Kelsey Brown) Terranova, Jacob (Kristin) Terranova, Kevin (significant other, Mary Herra) Terranova, Hannah (fiancé, Jacob Allen) Terranova, Julianna (significant other, Jacob Sheley) Terranova; her great-grandchildren, Jessica, Desiree, Angelina, April, Jonah, Juliana, Gabriel, Valentina, Drew, Addie, Sam, Grace, Ben, Gianna, Francesca, Carmella, Connor, Katelyn, Wilder, Bodhi, Nico, Luca, Ashlynn, Kalli-Jade, Teddy, Jack, Ben, Owen, James, Caleb, Reid, and 1 great-grandchild on the way; her great-great grandchildren, Cora, Roman, Rhett, Lacey and Adelia; several nieces, and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, John Terranova, Sr.; her infant child; her grandsons, Matthew and Luke Terranova; her son-in-law, Victor A. Mandala, Sr.; her siblings and their spouses , Marge (Louis) Verona, Irene Gutek-Miklos (Albert Gutek; Bob Miklos), twins, Robert (Ellen) and Albert Novotney, and Ralph “Rube’ (Helen) Novotney.

Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson St. Rockford with Reverend Carl Beekman officiating. Burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford with the Rosary recited at 4:45 P.M. Visitation will again be held on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church. Share online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
