Benjamin C. Mohrmann

Benjamin C. Mohrmann, 89, of Rockford passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017 at SwedishAmerican Hospital. He was born on November 24, 1927 in DeKalb, IL, the son of Benjamin and Helen (Delaney) Mohrmann. He proudly served in the United States Navy. Benjamin attended Northern Illinois University where he received his Master’s degree. He married the love of his life, Joan Larson in Rockford on May 2, 1959. He taught Industrial Arts at the Boys Farm School in Durand and at Jefferson High School for District 205 for many years. He was a proud member and supporter of the Rockford Barber Shoppers. During his retirement, he built a lovely home (Min Kärlek) on Ground Hemlock Lake, WI. Benjamin believed that God created the earth and it is our job to take care of it and all people who inhabit it.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; his children, Lisa Mohrmann of Rockford, and Karl (Kelly) Mohrmann of Greenville, SC; his grandchildren, John and Jacilyn; his beloved rescue dog, Skipper; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, and sisters, Mildred Harmon and Mary Jo Rupert.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, Our Master’s Center, 5973 Darlene Drive, Rockford. Visitation will be held from 10:30 until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Carpenter’s Place in Rockford appreciated. Express online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com
