BASIL WHITE, 82, of Roscoe died peacefully Friday morning, July 20, 2007 at Rockford Memorial Hospital surrounded by his devoted family. He was born February 1, 1925 in Indianapolis, Indiana and was a graduate of General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan. He moved to Illinois in 1956 and lived in the Rockford/Roscoe area until his death. He retired from Twin Disc, Inc. where he worked as a mechanical engineer. Basil was an avid golfer, bowler, fisherman and card player. He was a member of Atwood Mens Golf Club and numerous bowling leagues. As he met our Lord, he reunited with his beloved wife, Helen (Cervenak), his parents, Charles and Bernice (DeGolyer), brothers Alan and Bill and all his family and friends who have passed before him. Basil is survived by his sisters, Opal (Dave) Stanley and Maxine (Norman) Long; his children, Phillip (Lee Ann) White, Janet (Joe) Dunker, Alice (Alan) Scott, Douglas (Terri) White, Martha Davidson, Donna (Rick) Fiduccia, John (Lonna) White, Carl (Becky) White; 22 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Sunday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with a Rosary at 9:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church, 620 Blackhawk Blvd. (Rte. 2), South Beloit on Monday, July 23rd at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jerome Koutnik officiating. A brief visitation prior to the Mass from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow immediately at Roscoe Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the American Parkinsons Disease Association, Midwest Chapter, 2050 Pfingsten Road-Suite 127, Glenview, IL. 60025.
