Barton J. Thorvalson

Barton Jon Thorvalson died Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Summit Hospital in Oconomowoc, WI. He was born May 5, 1943 to Orrin and Violet Thorvalson of New Milford, IL and resided most of his life there. He attended Rockford Public Schools and served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967.
Although Bart worked at various locations over his lifetime, his undying faith and dedication to the Lord was his greatest passion. Over the past 30 years, Bart was Youth Director for New Milford United Methodist Church, Ken-Rock Community Center, Big Brothers of America, YMCA Youth Program, Salvation Army Youth Center, First Assembly of God Church, Rockford, Rockford Children’s Home, as well as many other organizations.
Bart is survived by nephews, Mike Thorvalson and Dave (Aleka) Thorvalson; nieces, Kirstin (Thorvalson) Sutton, Stephanie (Thorvalson) and Jeff Benske, Jennifer (Thorvalson) and Chris Lorenzen; several grand nephews, grand nieces, and cousins; special cousins, Kay (Claude) Prentice and Sally (Les) Seagren, and former sister-in-law, Becky (nee Moorehead) Thorvalson Provi.
Bart was preceded in death by his parents, Orrin and Violet; brother, Steven; grandparents; Aunt Lila and William (“Uncle Sonny”) Robinson; uncles, Tennis Thorvalson and George Carlson.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Kirk Krempel for the friendship and support given to Bart the last years of his life.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 25, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with pastor Don Johnson officiating. Burial in New Milford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a cause to be determined.
