Barbara M. Carlson

Barbara Carlson, age 88, of Rockford, IL, formerly of Salt Lake City, UT passed away on October 21, 2022.

Born September 3, 1934, in Rockford, and named Barbara Mary Gridley, she was the daughter of Everett and Mary (Cole) Gridley. She attended Rockford West High School. Barbara moved to Salt Lake City and lived independently for many years, working for Mountain Bell and later AT&T. She was an active member of her community and of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Barbara spent her golden years having lunch with friends, reading and discussing books, and enjoying the company of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her devoted and loving children, Becky (Marc) Iseri, Charlie (Susan) Carlson, John (Amy) Carlson, and Eric (Becky Hallie) Carlson as well as her 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was the youngest of eight children and the last in her family to pass. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Richard “Dick” Gridley, Everett “Ev” Gridley, William “Bill” Gridley, Marjorie “Margie” Fulton, Robert “Bob” Gridley, James “Jim” Gridley, and Joan “Jan” Rice, and her daughter Rachel (Paul) Jackson.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday October 29 at 10 AM, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 620 N. Alpine Rd., Rockford, IL. All are invited to attend.
